A few videos for Zipp

I posted some photos earlier from my day in the caravan with SRAM Neutral Race Support, and here’s the video.

I also had a chance to interview one of the most influential, modernizing figures in pro cycling, Bjarne Riis.

And finally, there’s Joao Correia – the former associate publisher of Bicycling Magazine who’s now racing for Cervelo [...]

Stage 1 was a circus

There were a LOT of people out there today. I was in the SRAM Neutral Race Support car taking photos and videos for Zipp’s website and Facebook page. I’ll have some more thoughts to post later on, but here are a few images from the stage.

ATOC Revisited

A year ago today was the last stage of the Tour of California. 100 miles up and over Mt. Palomar. The final act of 9 grueling days on the road. The experienced challenged me in more significant ways than I’d expected. But it was an adventure, and those are always to be relished.

New work: Wordpress MU for Specialized

Getting deeper into this WordPress thing, I’ve been working with Specialized on my first WordPress MU development project: the Stumpjumper Trail Crew. The campaign features eight “ambassadors” who’ve been fully kitted out and asked to blog, tweet, lead rides, and generally promote the latest version of the Stumpjumper.

A couple of MASH-related events

Mike is throwing a photo scavenger race (fun!) for the new Martin clothing line tomorrow in San Francisco. Then there’s the MASH Drag Race in Vegas on Wednesday night during Interbike. Details forthcoming…

What has Josh been up to?

I’m not exactly a daily blogger, but a gap of two-plus weeks since my last post is a bit much even by my standards. Things have been crazy busy but are now settling down slightly, so I figured I’d take this opportunity to share the recent goings-on at Kadisco. Big Project #1 that recently wrapped up was copywriting for Zipp’s 2010 catalog. Big Project #2 has been taking over online and offline marketing and communications for the North American Handmade Bicycle Show.

Quick update from Indy

Today Zipp’s engineers gave us an all-access tour of the in-house manufacturing facility where every Zipp rim is made by hand. Having worked with Zipp for over a year, what really impressed me was that they put the same level of engineering and technology into their processes as they do into the products themselves. Many of their machines and tools are custom-built. Unfortunately, I can’t really show any pictures of those.

Some more from Sea Otter

After two days of chitchat and handshakes, I returned to my roots with a long, hot Sea Otter Saturday covering the pro men’s and women’s road circuit races and dual slalom. It was a good day; thanks to Wendy Booher for giving me the nod. Some photos…

Zipp drops the new 303

Zipp drops the new 303

I work a lot with the good folks at Zipp but I don’t always get a chance to see the products up close, let alone ride them. Yesterday was an exception.

Zipp introduced a new version of the 303 wheelset to the assembled media at Sea Otter, with technical background from engineer Michael Hall and racing stories from marketing manager Andy Paskins. As you can see, the new 303 has a wider new shape that yields all sorts of benefits – strength, stiffness, comfort, and aerodynamics. After writing lots of copy and interviewing Thor Hushovd about the new releases, it was great to take them out for a spin with Andy, Michael, SRAM’s Michael Zellmann, and Road Bike Action’s Zap Espinoza.
